Who are the Luwa-Prai

Who are the Luwa-Prai

They are believed to have come from the village called Huoy Po whose ancestors used to occupy modern day Laos. They lived in the high mountains that now serve as a border between Laos and Thai territory.  They had inhabited the area until the divide of the two countries. That was when they officially migrated to Thailand, to the Huoy Po village. Some of the inhabitants split and migrated to the current area that is Ba Gum.

The man that led this group up to Ba Gum was the origin of Uncle Kord ancestral line. A total of four families migrated to Ba Gum. They later joined with the Luwa people from Norng Nan village. These two groups were discerned by two families of ghosts that they worship. So from four families they expanded. Because the population grew, a few people separated and crossed the mountain over to an area called Nam Pae, and they continued to separate into different villages. So all these villages that can be classified as Luwa, came from the same ancestor but are scattered throughout Thai and Laos territory. The community recognizes that this particular tribe, of Ba Gum, is the beginning of their lineage.
